Copyright License
Unless the author(s) of a paper chooses an open access publishing option, North American Business Press will hold the copyright to the article.
As part of our commitment to fostering access to scholarly research, the Journal of Higher Education Theory and Practice offers multiple publishing options to authors, including Green, Gold, and Hybrid publishing models. This licensing policy outlines the terms and conditions governing the use, distribution, and reuse of content published in our journal under each of these models.
Green Open Access
Green Open Access
Under the Green Open Access model, authors retain copyright of their manuscripts and are encouraged to self-archive preprints or postprints of their articles in institutional repositories, subject repositories, or personal websites. Authors grant the Journal of Higher Education Theory and Practice a non-exclusive license to publish the article initially and make it available to the public.
The following terms apply to content published under the Green Open Access model:
- Authors retain copyright of their work and grant the Journal of Higher Education Theory and Practice a non-exclusive license to publish the article.
- Users are permitted to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full text of the article for non-commercial purposes.
- Proper attribution must be given to the original author(s) and source of publication.
Gold Open Access
Gold Open Access
Under the Gold Open Access model, articles are published openly and freely accessible to readers immediately upon publication. Authors retain copyright of their manuscripts, and articles are typically published under a Creative Commons license, allowing for maximum reuse and redistribution.
The following terms apply to content published under the Gold Open Access model:
- Authors retain copyright of their work and grant the Journal of Higher Education Theory and Practice a license to publish the article under a Creative Commons Attribution (CC BY) license or another suitable Creative Commons license.
- Users are permitted to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full text of the article for any lawful purpose, provided proper attribution is given to the original author(s) and source of publication.
- Commercial use and derivative works are permitted, subject to compliance with the terms of the Creative Commons license.
Hybrid Open Access
Hybrid Open Access
Under the Hybrid Open Access model, authors have the option to make their articles open access upon payment of an article processing charge (APC). Articles published under the Hybrid Open Access model are subject to the same licensing terms as articles published under the Gold Open Access model.
